Many of us take for granted what is offered in our cafeteria, we look past the options of what we can create. We tend to just complain and continue to eat what we do not like. It is complicated to feed over 600 students and keep each one happy. The following article will contain delicious food you can create using everything that is found at our Sterling campus cafeteria!
Chocolate Chip Waffles and Nutella
Ingredients: Waffle Batter, Nutella, Butter, Milk or Water, Chocolate Chips, (optional: Bananas)
Instructions: Mix waffle batter either with milk or water. In the batter, add chocolate chips and place in waffle maker. When the waffle is done, add butter and Nutella. For more flavor add bananas on top! There are many options students overlook, one major accommodation that we are offered is the waffle maker.

Kassandra Romano is a regular an the waffle bar and gave insight on the possibilities with the waffle maker, “The waffle maker [has] so many combinations, we have to look past the normal mix. I enjoyed making the Chocolate Chip and Nutella Waffle. It is the right amount of chocolate”.
Yogurt Parfait with Fruit & Cereal
Ingredients: Yogurt, Fruit, Cereal, Honey
Instructions: Mix yogurt with fruits and use cereal as toppings. For more flavor, drizzle honey.
“This [yogurt parfait] is a simple and easy way to get a quick snack with high in vitamins”, said Kenneth Korrea.
Breakfast Sandwich
Ingredients: White or Wheat Bread, American Cheese, Turkey or Ham, Egg
Instructions: Similar to making a sandwich, place the egg on top of the bread slices, add cheese, and any choice of meat (turkey, ham, bologna). Also try toasting the bread pieces or add any variation of vegtables.
“This was a simple mix, very accessible and easy to take on the go when you’re late to class”, said Kalynn Matich.
Breakfast Bagel Pizza

Ingredients: Bagel, Cheese, Tomatoes, Butter
Instructions: Spread butter on bagel, spread cheese and tomatoes over it. Microwave for 30 seconds.
“This is an easy way to enjoy a mini pizza and personalize it to my pleasing“, said Caissa Smith.
Ice Cream meets Cereal Bar
Ingredients: Ice Cream, any cereal from the Cereal Bar
Instructions: Top ice cream with any cereal from the cereal bar! Simple, quick and packs a morning punch!

“This is a new take on ice cream, it was fun and just a random touch that happens to be good”, said Austin Brown.
Mini Apple Crumble
Ingredients: Apple, Honey, Cinnamon, Brown Sugar, Cereal or Granola
Instructions: Begin by slicing the apples, add honey, cinnamon and brown sugar. Microwave for 30 seconds and add either granola or cereal as a topping!
Breakfast Burrito
Ingredients: Tortilla, Scrambled eggs, veggies, shredded cheese
Instructions: Roll out tortilla, place scrambled eggs in the middle. Add any veggies you prefer and shredded cheese. Microwave for 30 seconds and your creation is done.
Breakfast Quesadilla
Ingredients: Flatbread, shredded cheese, lettuce, scrambled eggs, tomatoes and any veggies of your liking.
Instructions: Top the flatbread with the scrambled eggs, as toppings one can add anything from shredded cheese to veggies. Microwave for 30 seconds and enjoy!
There are some other recipes that you can try on your own, with an open mind the cafeteria has lots of possibilities! If we take into consideration the numbers, there are plenty of options to mix and match. There are also microwaves throughout the cafeteria which should be used to our advantage. Being kind to our staff and not undermining what we have, arriving with a positive mindset, all can better your experience at our school cafeteria.
